Vince Komar - Head Men's Coach & Pole Vault

Coach Komar graduated from MHS in 1988 and competed in football, cross country, basketball, and track.  He graduated from the University of Hawaii with a Secondary Education degree in Biology - all while studying surfing, beach volleyball and working in the restaurant industry.  He taught and coached pole vault at Kalani HS and Moanalua HS.  After returning to the area in 1995, he taught at Waukesha North HS for 11 years and was the Head Men's Track & Field coach for 9 of those years.  He returned to Mukwonago in 2006 and has been the vault coach and Head Men’s coach to date.  Coach Komar has been the President of the Wisconsin Pole Vault Coaches Association since 1997.  He has helped to develop the strength programs for our morning and summer Strength and Conditioning sessions.   His wife Merry is an Elementary  teacher in the Waukesha School District.  His son, Keanu, is in his final year at the United States Air Force Academy and Nalani is a sophomore at Washington State University "Go Cougs".

Steve Pratt - Co-Head Women's Coach & Throws

Coach Pratt is originally from Waukesha and attended Waukesha South HS. He did his undergraduate & graduate work at UW Oshkosh (GO TITANS!). While at Oshkosh, he was also a member of the track & field team where he threw the 35lb weight, hammer, and discus. After graduation, he taught briefly in Chilton before arriving in Kimberly. He taught sixth grade in Kimberly for eight years while coaching football & track. His family (wife - Emily & two daughters - Paige & Aubrey) decided to relocate to this area to be closer to family and friends. He is excited to be in Mukwonago!

Josh Herrell - Co-Head Women's Coach & Jumps

Coach Herrell is originally from Waukesha and attended Brookfield East HS and Luther College. He was the Head boys & girls at East Troy HS from 2000 to 2015 and won 11 Conference Outdoor Championships, 7 WIAA Regional Championships, 3 Sectional Championships, 1 Div 2 Girls State Championship.  He's coached multiple state champions throughout the years and was named WISTCA District 6 Head Coach of the Year 2012 boys and 2013 girls.  He was also named Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Head Girls Coach of the Year in 2013.

Matt Scherbarth - Distance Coach

Coach Scherbarth grew up near Milwaukee but graduated from MHS.   He earned his bachelor's degree from UW Madison and a PhD from Ohio State.  During his time at Ohio State, he discovered a stronger than anticipated passion for teaching which led him to pursue a path that brought him back to Mukwonago as an AP US history teacher.  He has been the head coach of the co-ed Cross Country program at Parkview Middle School and is now the head coach of the Boys Cross Country program at the High School.  He has played a huge role in the growth and strength of Mukwonago's cross country program.  He is also proud of the role that the year-round all-sports conditioning program has played in improving all Mukwonago sports.

Larry Stuppy - Throws Coach

Coach Stuppy is originally from Southern California where he threw Shot Put and Discus and played Football at Ocean View High School.  After spending 2 years at Goldenwest College, he earned a scholarship to play Football at Rice University.  He began coaching Youth Football and Baseball in 2003.  From 2007-2009, he coached the offensive line at Loyola High School in Los Angeles.  He was also an assistant coach of the throwers at Pacifica High School in Garden Grove, CA from 2008 to 2010.  He is a proud parent to Justin and Samantha. When he is not coaching, he is a Senior Business Executive at Iron Mountain.  He is honored to have the pleasure of coaching the throwers at MHS since 2012.

Charlie Smith - Throws Coach

Coach Smith is married to his lovely wife Lisa and has 3 kids.  In his free time is a middle school teacher :)  He went to college at Carroll where his competed in the Shot Put, Discus and Javelin.  He has coached High School and NCAA throwers and loves to #FIREIT

Will Ettl - Pole Vault Coach

Coach Ettl is a MHS alum and credits Coach Komar with everything he knows about vaulting - he was able to clear 14' - and went on to compete at UW-Whitewater.  After a hamstring injury, he decided to give coaching a try.  He began his coaching career at Arrowhead High School where he helped to coach an athlete to the sectional meet. He is excited to be back at MHS with those he considers family.  He looks forward to helping the team grow and improve.  GO INDIANS!

EJ Furlong - High Jump Coach

Coach Furlong feels privileged to have been part of MHS coaching for almost a decade and has witnessed  two school records, two USATF Wisconsin Association champions -- with one record holder -- and twelve individuals qualify for the WIAA State Meet. He notes four years running of multiple state qualifiers on the Girls side -- and five of the last six, with three individual place-winners in 2013 and four All-State performances in as many years. The hopes are to meet and expand upon the standards built by the jumpers who’ve been through MHS and have a 100% success rate for “landing on the mats and not the ground”. He's confident under the stewardship of Coaches Komar and Pratt that the former can be achieved.

Andy Grossman - Hurdle Coach

Coach Grossman graduated from Mukwonago in 2009 where he participated in Football, Wrestling and Track & Field.  He then attending UW-LaCrosse where he ran track all four years as a decathlete.  He broke the UWL school Heptathlon record and still ranks number 4 all time in the Decathlon.  The record he is most proud of is the Mukwonago "Burrito Challenge"in which he ate a 3 lb Burrito, Rice, Beans, Fried Ice Cream and Milk in at 6 mins 31.18 secs.

Ryan Schedlbauer - Jumps Coach

Coach Schedlbauer graduated from Mukwonago in 2017 where he participated in Track and Soccer.  He currently attends UW Whitewater with a major in Health and Human Performance with a minor in coaching, with  the goal of becoming a collegiate track coach.  He looks most forward to giving the joy of track and field he got back to the athletes.
